Lacombe, Alberta – The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation is proud to announce its new partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities; a program that helps kids, who otherwise couldn’t afford to play, get in the game. Gord Bamford’s Foundation mission is to provide funds to youth supporting charities across Canada that involve music, education, health care, sports, and multi-use facilities, so Jumpstart is a natural fit.

“Sports were a very important part of my life growing up. It’s not until you’re an adult that you realize all of the great lessons you’ve learned though sport. I’d never want to think of any child missing out on that opportunity,” said Bamford.

This year, Jumpstart will receive a $10,000 cheque from the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation. Jumpstart helps kids from families in financial need participate in organized sport and physical activity by helping cover the cost of registration, equipment and/or transportation. Whether it’s the opportunity to try a new sport or to continue with a favourite one, every kid deserves a sporting chance.

“For 11 years, Jumpstart has proudly helped more than 1.4 million kids get in the game,” said Landon French, President and CEO of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. “We believe that sport does more than help kids stay active: it teaches life skills like courage, confidence and teamwork. On behalf of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities, I am grateful for our partnership with the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation so more kids can play the sport they love.”

Bamford’s event has generated over 2.7 million dollars for charity over its decade long history, and this year’s sold out event is shaping up to be the best yet. Over the past year, notable donations include $50,000 to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lacombe & District, $10,000 to the Music Program at IWK Health Centre Foundation, and $10,000 to the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre to name a few.

As one of the most awarded artists in Canadian country music history, Bamford is nominated again this year for ‘Male Artist of The Year’ and the coveted CCMA’s ‘Fan’s Choice Award’. As one of five nominees, fans will be able to vote online or through social media for their favorite Canadian country artist of the year. The voting link https://fanvote.ccma.org/#/country-awards-2017 is open to the public now.

With only a few weeks to go until the 10th Annual Gord Bamford Charity Golf Classic, which takes place August 9th and 10th in Red Deer and Lacombe, Alberta, the committee is busy organizing the country stars that will be flying in to perform, the exciting live auction items, and the celebrities that will be auctioned off to the golf teams.
