Award-winning Canadian country music artist Gord Bamford is bringing his 25th anniversary tour Just Gettin’ Started to Club Regent Event Centre in Winnipeg tomorrow night, and along with the music comes a generous gift for a local cause.

The Gord Bamford Foundation will present a $5,000 donation to Prairie Strides, a Winnipeg-based charity that provides adaptive horseback riding programs for children with disabilities. The cheque presentation will take place during the concert, with Prairie Strides Executive Director [insert name] and two members of the organization’s board on hand to accept the gift.

“We’re so grateful for Gord Bamford and his Foundation’s support,” said Christina Dolinski, Executive Director of Prairie Strides. “This donation will help us continue to provide life-changing experiences for children of all abilities, giving them the chance to grow in confidence, strength, and joy through horseback riding.”

The Gord Bamford Foundation has donated more than $6 million to charities across Canada that support children and youth in need. The Foundation focuses on initiatives in health care, music education, sports, and multi-use facilities, making a positive impact for kids and communities nationwide.

Fans attending the Winnipeg show can expect a show filled with chart-topping country hits from Bamford, whose songs and heartfelt philanthropy have made him one of Canada’s most beloved country artists. Gord Bamford is one of the most awarded artists in Canadian Country Music History. With a string of accolades to his name, including 26 Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) Awards, JUNO nominations, and is the only Canadian to receive recognition twice from the Country Music Association (CMA) Global Music Artist award.

About the Gord Bamford Foundation:
The idea of creating a foundation to support Gord’s philanthropy work was born after Gord held his first annual charity golf tournament in 2008. As word spread of the event’s success, telephones began to ring. A large number of groups and organizations wanted Gord to help out in some fashion with their various fundraisers. While Gord found it very difficult not being able to reach out to these groups, he thought a Foundation might be the answer. As a result, the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation was born.

The goal of the Foundation is to be able to leverage Gord’s name and brand in order to raise funds that can then be dispersed back to youth. It is important for Gord that any funds raised through the support of fans, friends and corporate partners be initially donated in the area they were collected and then spread throughout the region.

Currently, there is one main fundraiser for the Foundation, the Gord Bamford Charity Classic Golf Tournament. It is a two-day event which showcases a gala evening event along with golf tournament the following day. The event takes place in Gord’s hometown of Lacombe, Alta., 200 kilometers north of Calgary.
