Highlights of the 5th Annual Charity Golf Classic

Highlights

Since 2008, The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation has held an annual charity golf tournament. This year was the fifth annual tournament, and a milestone for the foundation as we have now raised just over 1$ Million. Here are some of the highlights:

  • $270,000 raised
  • Change of Venue to Lacombe Arena

The $270, 000 was raised through ticket sales, sponsorship,  a silent auction and a live celebrity auction and fun events on the course. This brings the five-year total  to over 1$ Million raised. These dollars are already making a difference.

Last year’s funds went to help build the Ronald McDonald house in Central Alberta and at this year’s gala a presentation was made to the Make a Wish foundation to send a child to Disney in Hawaii.

Title sponsor PennWest Exploration is already excited to get involved next year:

“Every year we participate in the tournament, our company is impressed by the quality and professionalism of this organization while at the same time, maintaining all of its rural values and charm,” says Keith Luft.

“Gord and his team hit a milestone this year and, in doing so, have really stepped up for the charities they support. Penn West and its employees are proud to be a part of this amazing volunteer foundation that gives so much back – see you next year!”

I’m humbled to be able to give back 100% of the proceeds raised at my 4th annual golf tournament.”

2010 3rd Annual Charity Golf Classic

$230,000 raised at 2010 Gord Bamford Charity Golf Tournament

(Edmonton, AB) Gord Bamford and friends recently raised $230,000 for five central Alberta charities late last week, at the 2010 Gord Bamford Charity Golf Tournament.

Bamford and friends Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Patricia Conroy, Dean Brody, Aaron Pritchett, Duane Steele and many others banded together at the Lacombe Memorial Centre Thursday evening, August 12, to kick off the 3rd annual event.

“Last year we raised $170,000. Our theme this year was to “Raise the Bar’, which is one of the song titles from my new album Day Job. And that’s exactly what we did. Raising $230,000 for these five charities is an amazing feeling and I know that everyone in attendance at the event felt the energy of wanting to give back,” says Bamford.

The recipients’ of Bamford’s fundraising efforts include The Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Lacombe Accessible Park Society, Lacombe Athletic Park and the Ronald McDonald House Red Deer Project. The Make a Wish Foundation was also added to this year’s recipient list.

The event began Thursday evening with a silent and live auction, which included signed guitars from Brooks and Dunn, Martina McBride, and Bamford himself. Those in attendance were treated to a star-studded concert with performances from Johnson, Conroy, Pritchett, Brody and Matthews. Six lucky winners also get to experience the Canadian Country Music Awards being held in Edmonton, September 12 in one of Rexall Place’s Luxury Suites.

The money generated goes to support Bamford’s Foundation, which provides support for education, music, and health care in order to improve the quality of life for these families living in local communities across Canada.

Bamford also wishes to recognize the many sponsors and corporate support from several Alberta companies, such as EnCana Corporation, Arctic Spas, PennWest Energy, and the Calgary Stampede for their involvement. “They are a key ingredient to our success,” says Bamford. “We couldn’t do without their support in the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation and their support of wanting to give back to their rural communities.”

2009 2nd Annual Charity Golf Classic

Gord Bamford’s Golf Event Raises Money for New Charitable Foundation

(Edmonton, AB) Canadian country music award winner Gord Bamford has rounded up the best in the business for his annual Charity Invitational Golf Tournament, in order to raise money for his newly founded “Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation.”

Bamford’s Foundation will offer support to underprivileged youth and single parent families in Canada. “By providing financial support for education, music, and health care I hope to help improve the quality of life for these families living in our local communities across Canada,” explains Bamford.

This will be Bamford’s second annual Charity Invitational Gala Golf Tournament, held August 6 and 7, 2009 at the Lacombe Golf & Country Club, and will feature live performances from Bamford, George Canyon, Aaron Pritchett, and Jessie Farrell.
More than $60,000.00 was raised at last year’s event, with proceeds given to Big Brothers and Sisters of Lacombe. Bamford will again give a portion of this year’s monies raised to Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The remainder will go to his charitable foundation. “I feel privileged to be able to give back to this organization that can make a difference in a child’s life and give them direction, just as it did for me as a child,” says Bamford.
Bamford’s financial target for the charitable foundation is to raise $75,000.00 at this year’s event. EnCana Corporation from Calgary is just one of the corporate examples of sponsorship support. “EnCana is the title sponsor for this year’s event and they have committed to working with us in 2010. This kind of support allows us to take this charity event to the next level. We want to attract more sponsors and grow this event each and every year,” says Bamford.

The charity event kicks off at 6:30 pm Thursday evening with live entertainment and a silent auction. Performances by Bamford, Canyon, Pritchett and Farrell start at 7:30 pm. The evening finishes with a live auction and more live entertainment at 8:30 pm. Auction items include a golf weekend for 12 on Bamford’s tour bus, a mystery heli golf weekend, big barn barbeque for 60 people, and performance by Bamford, a Davey Shields autographed saddle, and much more.

Casey Clarke from CMT Canada will also be filming its Chevy Top 20 Countdown at the charity event. Red Deer’s KG Country will be live on site. A Mega Media Prize hole on the golf course will allow media to interview the celebrities.
