Offering the chance for children of all abilities to play was the goal of the Lacombe Accessible Playground Society. That vision became reality for many children in wheelchairs when the 100 percent handicap accessible playground opened in 2011, offering a chance for children of all abilities to play. Thanks to access by ramps and recycled rubber surfacing, the playground is slip-resistant when either wet or dry, and meets safety standards for the prevention of head injuries. Mothers with stroller, grandparents with walkers and wheelchair bound children can all benefit from the Lacombe Accessible Playground. The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation takes great pride in knowing all ages and abilities regardless of their disability, will benefit greatly from this playground.
