Gord Bamford Gives $100,000 to Children’s Hospitals Across Canada

Canadian Country Superstar Generously Kicks off New Album & Reba Tour

(Lacombe, AB) Gord Bamford is celebrating his recent Canadian Country Music Association Awards, new album launch and fall tour with Reba McEntire, by donating $100,000 to children’s hospitals across Canada.

Since creating the Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation back in 2008, Bamford has generated nearly $1.5 million thanks to an annual charity golf classic he hosts in Alberta every summer. Those monies have gone to support underprivileged youth and single parent families in Canada by supporting education, health care and music.

However, children’s hospitals are also a priority for Bamford, and he’s quick to recognize that music is a form of therapy for children who are ill. “Music has that special power to take a child away from whatever they might be experiencing at that moment in time. I’ve seen it first-hand on my visits to children’s hospitals over the years. I’m so grateful to be in the position I am today to be able to help these hospitals all across Canada,” says Bamford.

The following are the dates and hospital locations where Bamford will be presenting each facility with a $10,000 cheque from his Foundation. A media advisory will be issued prior to each event that will provide the location and time details for media to attend:

October 8: Victoria, B.C. Jeneece Place, Children’s Health Foundation
October 9 Vancouver, B.C. BC Children’s Hospital Foundation
October 16 St. John’s, NL Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation
October 20 Halifax, NS IWK Health Centre Foundation
October 21 Montreal, QC Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation
October 22 Toronto, ON The Hospital for Sick Children
October 23 Toronto, ON Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital
October 26 London, ON Children’s Health Foundation

Two Alberta hospitals were also recent recipients of Bamford’s generosity. The Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton and the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary each received $10,000 for their music therapy programs on September 5th and September 23rd respectively.

The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation offers under privileged youth and single parent families in Canada an equal opportunity in life by providing monies to support education, health care and music. Furthermore, it is a Foundation goal to improve communities for Canadian youth through the construction or improvement of multiuse facilities.

Bamford, is a 16-time Canadian Country Music Association award winner, and two-time Juno Award nominee. He recently won the 2013 CCMA Album of the Year, CMT Video of the Year, Single of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Record Producer(s) of the Year.

His 6th studio album Country Junkie will be released on October 8, 2013.
