Canadian Celebrities support Gord Bamford Charity Golf

(Edmonton) Canada’s country music community will return to Lacombe, Alberta for the 4th annual Gord Bamford Charity Invitational Golf Tournament, scheduled for August 4th and 5th, 2011.

In a unique twist this year, Gord Bamford, Patricia Conroy, Beverley Mahood, Jake Mathews and Aaron Pritchett, Tera Lee, and Dallas Smith from the band Default will perform a song from one of their musical heroes, in addition to a song from their own personal collection.

Olympic medalist and world champion figure skater Jamie Sale, former Edmonton Oilers Craig Simpson and Grant Fuhr, Curtis Glencross from the Calgary Flames and CMT Canada host Casey Clarke have all confirmed their attendance.

Clarke will also be filming the CMT Chevy Top 20 Countdown.

Gord Bamford’s Charity Golf Planned for August 4-5, 2011

(Edmonton, AB) For Gord Bamford, August is a special time of year, as his annual Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation Invitational Golf Tournament means getting the opportunity to help local charitable organizations.

This fourth annual event is scheduled for August 4 and 5 at the Lacombe Golf and Country Club, and will feature live performances from Bamford, Patricia Conroy, Beverley Mahood, Aaron Pritchett, Jake Mathews, Tera Lee and Dallas Smith from the band Default.

“We continue to work towards giving back to our community. Raising $230,000 in 2010 benefitted many local groups,” says Bamford. “These are dollars that are making a difference in our community, and in how these organizations operate. Most importantly, they help support the kids who these groups work so hard for.”

The money generated goes to support Bamford’s Foundation, which provides support for education, music, and health care in order to improve the quality of life for these families living in local communities across Canada. The designated recipients for 2011 are Ronald McDonald House Red Deer Project, Lacombe Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Lacombe Accessible Park Society, and the Make a Wish Foundation.

Many corporate organizations continue to support Bamford’s charitable efforts. Encana Corporation continues as the event’s title sponsor. Other groups such as ATB Financial, PennWest Energy, and the Ponoka Stampede are involved. “I can’t begin to thank these sponsors enough. They continue to give back to their rural communities and I’m proud to have them on board,” says Bamford.

The charity event kicks off at 6:00 pm Thursday evening with cocktails, dinner including silent auction and live entertainment. Performances by Bamford, Conroy, Mahood and others start at 7:30 p.m. The evening finishes with the LIVE and celebrity auction. Auction items include a VIP package for 30 people to the Canadian Derby, a deluxe golf package for 16 to the Wilderness Golf Club in Montana, Ponoka Stampede 2012 event package and a one-of-a-kind Gord Bamford customized poker table, plus much more.

CMT Canada’s Casey Clarke will also be filming its Chevy Top 20 Countdown at the 2011 charity event.

Bamford received the Canadian Country Music Association’s Humanitarian award in September, 2011.
